Deva was the Champion of Champions in all yoga competitions in India and has embraced yoga since the age of 6. Not only has he been teaching since 1983 in India, Hong Kong, Thailand, Bangladesh, Nepal and Singapore, he has also been the chief judge for hundreds of state, national and international competitions globally. With a diploma in Yoga Therapy, he has over 25 years of experience treating patients and has written numerous articles on yoga for leading publications. Deva teaches Hatha Yoga for all levels, asana and pranayama, Yoga Therapy and Yoga Nidra (meditation and relaxation). His expertise in Yoga Therapy - especially effective for people of all ages with chronic problems and psychosomatic diseases - has allowed him to incorporate light mobilising energy, curative yoga postures, pranayama, breathing exercises and relaxation into his classes.

Bali Yoga relaxation excursion (29 May to 3 June 2014)

For a yoga relaxation trip, where else can be better than Bali, the Indonesian island, one of the most wonderful places in the lap of Mother Nature? We chose to stay in Hotel Melia at Nasa Dua, Bali. Beside the green sea, it is a luxurious resort with pleasant greenery and inviting facilities. Nature welcomed us, a group of 23 yoga practitioners, led by Deva.

The first morning practice session began with neti pot nasal irrigation, which was already a new experience for many of the students. Relax and breathe through the mouth is the key, and this cleansing process turned out to be very enjoyable especially for those who had never tried it. Of course, the nasal cleansing helped prepare the students for effective breathing for their asana practice.

Subsequent practice sessions focusing on core, back bending, hip opening, balancing and inversions respectively involved quite a bit of partner work among the students. One of the highlights was that the students paired up and stood facing each other. Holding each other by their forearms, each student took turns to push their partner off balance. Instead of quickly pushing back, the one who was pushed simply started thinking about which parts of the body were moved and then slowly adjusted those parts back to the original positions to regain balance.

The idea behind this exercise is that we may be surrounded by many people who are actually not kind to us and may even create irritation in our body and mind. Instead of quickly fighting back or trying to make these people change, we stay calm and see what we can adjust ourselves to live in peace with or even love these people.

Apart from yoga practice, the group also visited some of Bali's stunning scenic spots such as the breathtaking Uluwatu Cliffs. Many students also had fun posing for pictures in yoga postures in front of the spectacular sunset at the Tanah Lot Temple.

After the six-days trip, the students flew back home with better knowledge in yoga, stronger friendships among themselves as well as great memories.

    I liked having outing with Deva so much, apart from enjoying the practice of yoga and program with diehard yoga students together, it wasso eye opening to observe Deva's demonstration of "live in present " . He shown a sense of fulfillment always, so calm, relax, embracing whatever came across in a positive way, So inspiring!!

  2. This was my first yoga trip and I found it inspiring and eye-opening especially with so many ice and cheerful guys around. Learned a lot from our dear Master Deva in everyday's practice and valuable ideas from the advanced students. One thing I can never forget was the happy voices...noises  made by those volleyball players in the pool and to my surprise, our dear Master was the most hyper player among all. Thanks everybody for this amazing trip . Look forward to the next trip.

  4. It is always complimentary yoga experience with Master Deva. From the internal, Kirya, Meditation, to external, physical, connecting with people and the nature. Being with you all for the whole trip, inspiring me of why keeps doing yoga. At the beginning we all have different reasons: to be good soccer player, reduce stress, loss weight, for fun etc. Someone even said they got sick if not go to class. We are experience good things from Yoga therefore we keep practicing. Slowly, Life immerges Yoga. What is next in the agenda? Work life balance, be a role model or to love the enemies? Let’s keep practice, keep this thousands year culture, Namaste.

  5. 23 yoga buddies...managed to escape 6full days from the hustle n bustle of our daily routines! I enjoyed embracing ourselves in the nature of Bali...what Master Deva taught us was not only asanas,yoga is all about what you have absorbed n then sinking into it,it becomes an attitude towards life and in fact eventually a part of you!
    During these few days I found my body n spirit so refreshing that this retreat was,and still is,entirely rewarding to me!

    1. 我已是第四年參加了,首先多謝一班義工(Gigi、Kiyoko 及Becky) 合力炮製六日五夜的行程及安排。除了我們都是瑜珈愛好者,亦是Master Deva 超級粉絲,所以聚首一堂時,大家都好融合,最終大家都享受一個難忘的假期。
      令我感受深刻的係,瑜珈真有凝聚的力量,响呢次旅程,除了玩瑜珈外,我地仲打排球,發現瑜珈幫助我很多,包括身體力量變化,使我打排球時的後彎動作加強。我已經練習瑜珈有七年半之多,也令我改變很多,有人同我傾開有関瑜珈話題,我可以講過滔滔不絕。今次旅程,雖然只有24人,但來自不同國籍、不同職業,就是瑜珈,把我們聯繫一起,真奇妙。是次瑜珈旅程,早上除練習式子外,主要係呼吸,今次一大清早,做呼吸練習,繼而次清潔鼻咽,亦係我首次學習清潔鼻咽位置,經Master Deva 指導下,也成功用水(鼻壼)洗鼻。另外,有YY及其朋友Angela 在烈日當空下,不停留下汗水,替我地拍攝專業高水準瑜珈式子照片(但動作可能不完美),替各人留下優美姿態作回憶。還有,Nicholas、Gigi、Natalie協助拍攝照片及Louis 之夜間相機傑作。在今次認識之新朋友Kunal,晚飯後一齊共嘗水煙(Shisha) 滋味,及泳池中排球玩樂,更令行程增加不少笑聲。當中,亦由Gigi安排在當地一瑜珈中心內,參加一堂私人授課瑜珈堂。當然要感謝Master Deva 率領我們眾瑜友及讓我們享受一次又一次的難忘的旅程。

  6. Through this Yoga Outing lead by our Dearest Master Deva, I am further impressed by the power of Yoga. Yoga links us up though we are coming from different background and it does not matter who we are, either acquaintances or newly met. I can’t image we can get along together so well in these 6 days and had such fun and great week!

    6 great Yoga workshops focusing on different topics backbend, hip openings, inversion etc given by Master Deva in a thoughtful but fun way are full of enlightenments. It is not just our daily asana practices correcting alignment but more on inspiring us watching our body for self-adjustment along the way based on our body condition. This reminds me that it is not critical to achieve the poses strictly to the standard one but to reach to a state that our body is well balance and comfortable. No wonder I can still enjoy Yoga practices very much even though my poses are ugly :P !! Seeing others great poses performance and happiness on their faces does not make me feeling inferior and create jealous but make me smile and brings me happiness too instead.

    Another highlight is partner yoga mingling us closely, helping and showing our care to each other. This is what I like Deva group which each member is friendly, helpful and caring and I believe is ‘Deva culture’ influence on his followers!

    Thank you Deva for giving your heart and time sharing your knowledge, setting up the workshops for us! I am very grateful to be your student and part of the group. Looking forward very much to the coming ones…..

  9. 六天的陽光、海灘的瑜珈之旅玩得開心又盡興!結識到各位對生命積極又有正能量的瑜珈友,同時亦學到很多在平常課堂中難于領略到的瑜珈知識,實在獲益良多!多謝Deve 老師的釋心敎導!多謝Giqi等幾位的完美的安排!多謝Nicholas的2069張靚相!最後多謝Louis 的華麗文章替這次印尼峇里𡷊之旅畫上完美句號!熱切期待下一個新的瑜珈之旅!🙏🙏🙏😍😍😍 (6 days yoga, sunshine & beach trip was fun & enjoyable !!
